Enabling Burundian refugees to rebuild their lives in Rwanda

Burundi is one of the world's poorest countries, one ravaged by political unrest. With the aid of the ATOZ Foundation and the CSI Lëtzebuerg, 120 children per year seeking refuge in Rwanda are being given access to preschool education. This not only provides displaced children with an educational opportunity in a country where preschooling is private, thus an additional expense to those who already have so little, but also gives parents an opportunity to find work and provide for their family.

These children are provided with meals, school supplies, uniforms and receive psychological support from experts working with the project to support their physical and emotional development. Through this project, Burundian refugees are integrated into Rwandan society and their children are given a better chance of an education.
